New decision taking on applications

Published On: 24th June 2026
The Government has published its response to its March 2026 consultation on planning committee reform plus guidance for LPAs in England.
In its latest blog, Lichfields gives the details and a table showing categories of decision making for different planning applications.
London Forum had responded “The proposals amount to an attack on local democracy.” and “Members of the local community will be unable to seek any effective support from their Councillors in addressing their concerns about individual applications.”
The regulations will come into force on 31 October 2026.
