Constitution
The London Forum of Amenity and Civic Societies is a charity established ‘for the public benefit to protect and to improve the quality of life of people living in, working in, or visiting the area comprising Greater London’. The constitution was drawn up at charitable registration in 2002, revised in 2004 and again in 2017 and 2024.
The more specific objects of the Forum under its constitution can be summarised as promoting and encouraging:
- high standards of planning, urban design, landscaping, infrastructure and transport;
- conservation, including conserving the individual character of localities;
- improvement of the built environment, open spaces, waterways and amenities, and avoidance or removal of unsightly or undesirable features;
- knowledge of and interest in such matters on the part of the general public and particular groups;
- civic pride and community involvement;
- sustainable development.
In pursuing these objects, the Forum is enjoined to ‘promote and encourage the activities of local amenity societies and act in a representative capacity on their behalf on amenity and environmental issues affecting Greater London’.
