Will the London Plan deliver the housing and places London needs?

Draft London Plan 2026

Will the London Plan deliver the housing and places London needs?

The draft London Plan proposes that 50% of all new homes should be affordable. There are competing demands on land usage for homes, industrial and other work locations. Some housing will be built in what is now Green Belt land.

This is an important subject covering proposals for the pattern of housing development in London over the next 20 years. Please use the booking facility to secure your place(s) at this Open Meeting on 14th September.

We’ve invited several of the London Plan team to talk about:

  • The amount of housing required to meet London needs and the tenure and size mix required;
  • Where and how the new housing will be accommodated by location and the types of places that would be created; and
  • The types of housing in terms of density and building types – low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise.

This covers a number of London Plan policies and the speakers will paint a picture of the direction of travel, following which there’ll be a Q & A session, plus discussion.

Members will find that the event explains what the draft London Plan will mean for them and their communities, the direction, scale and speed of change and what this would feel and look like.
