Mayor’s ‘Vision Zero’ road safety plan

20th March 2026|Categories: Updates|Tags: , , , |

On 13th March 2026 the Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) launched an updated ‘Vision Zero’ plan to significantly reduce road danger and prevent deaths and serious injuries on London’s roads over the next five years.

TfL is considering how to tackle the safety issues posed by oversized cars such as SUVs, which are increasingly common on London’s roads and more likely to cause deaths or serious injuries in collisions and are too wide for existing parking infrastructure. New car tax fees for them are possible.

Pavement parking

21st January 2026|Categories: Updates|Tags: , , |

There was a consultation on this subject, as the Government is taking forward a new approach to pavement parking for decisions being made closer to the communities affected.

A London Forum member society in Osterley has asked people to sign their petition, as below.

Please send this link to anyone who cycles on the A4 cycle path, or would like to do so.   https://www.owgra.org.uk/petition-a4-cyclepath

The Standard reports a cyclist in Hammersmith’s part-segregated Cycleway 9 was hit by a moped and died. LCC CEO Tom Fyans criticised the cycleway design which allows mopeds to enter it.

This is the sixth cyclist death this year and TfL is raising awareness of Highway Code rules.

An illegal e-bike boom article in the Guardian reported some of them capable of 70mph.

Lime loses e-bike contract

4th August 2025|Categories: Updates|Tags: , |

Hounslow Council has sacked Lime as the provider of e-bike services in the borough after a string of complaints from residents. In June 2025 there were nearly 30,000 active Lime users there but a minority of them dumped bikes anywhere.

Forest and Voi will become the borough’s exclusive e-bike operators from Monday 11 August 2025. A report is on the local community website here.
