Constitution

The London Forum of Amenity and Civic Societies is a charity established 'for the public benefit to protect and to improve the quality of life of people living in, working in, or visiting the area comprising Greater London'. Its constitution was drawn up when it registered as a charity in 2002, and revised in 2004.

The more specific objects of the Forum under its constitution can be summarised as promoting and encouraging:

• high standards of planning, urban design, landscaping, infrastructure and transport
• conservation, including conserving the individual character of localities
• improvement of the built environment, open spaces, waterways and amenities, and avoidance or removal of unsightly or undesirable features
• knowledge of and interest in such matters on the part of the general public and particular groups
• civic pride and community involvement
• sustainable development

In pursuing these objects, the Forum is enjoined to 'promote and encourage the activities of local amenity societies and act in a representative capacity on their behalf on amenity and environmental issues affecting Greater London'
