Tower Bridge seen from River

Forthcoming Events

Wednesday 6 November 2019
Time: 6 p.m. for 6:30 p.m.-8:45 p.m.
Broadening the Membership Base
The event will follow up our successful and popular meeting on Broadening the Membership Base earlier in the year which you can read about here. We need to develop the interim conclusions from that meeting and decide what to do next to develop societies for their success.
There has been a survey of members on how they rated each of the conclusions from last time and the results will be explored at this event on 6th November.
The theme for this open meeting is attracting and retaining younger members, a priority for most amenity and civic societies.  The main focus will be on the effective use of social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - and also one or two more exotic alternatives!  For those who are interested, there will also be sessions on:

  • the use of free web-based utilities for emailing, event ticketing and membership surveys

  • how younger members in specific professions can gain Continuing Professional Development credits by playing a leadership role in their civic society

Amongst those contributing to this event are Clare Birks, Chair of BermondseyStreet.London, Henry Clay, Richmond Society committee member for Digital & Social Media, and John Myers of London YIMBY and London Forum Secretary.

This event is designed to give members the confidence to up their game, especially in the use of social media.  You may even want to bring a laptop and get started on the spot!
Please choose someone to represent your organisation for this important event.
